The Crown Lift procedure is a pruning technique which removes the lower branches leaving a balanced shape. It is often used to remove obstructive branches, or in conjunction with a crown thin to reduce the amount of shade.
Does your tree infringe the highway regulations? If it is within 2.5m in height of the path or within 5.2m of the road it does and you may receive a 14 day notice from the council to take action. This method is usually quick, easy and relatively inexpensive way to remedy this.
